About Us
Who We Are
The Great 100 Nurses of Northeast Florida, Inc., is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise nurse scholarship money, celebrate nursing to the community, and promote support for the profession in our region.
What We Do!
Celebration
Most all of us (or our loved ones) have been touched by that special nurse whose great skill, caring, and compassion made a memorable and positive, even life-changing, impact. Here in Florida's First Coast, a tradition began in 2000 to honor these nurses.
In the spring of 2000, 2003, and 2005, professional colleagues, family members, patients, and community members were given the opportunity to nominate favorite nurses to be one of the Great 100 Nurses of Northeast Florida, Inc. These nurses not only excel in giving nursing care, but also improve the overall health and quality of others' lives. Of the many nominations sent forward, a carefully selected panel of nursing peers selected the final 100 recipients.
This gala event was successfully staged in 2000 (List of the 2000 Recipients), 2003 (List of the 2003 Recipients), 2005 (List of the 2005 Recipients), 2007(List of the 2007 Recipients) and 2009 (List of 2009 Recipients). These events were made possible by gifts from corporate, healthcare, and community sponsors. The Great 100 Nurses Celebration features a fabulously elegant dinner, musical entertainment, educational exhibits, and lots of fun and laughter.

Scholarships
With growing percentages of open nursing positions available within the state of Florida, a critical reason for the Great 100 Nursing event is to fight this shortage by collecting money and then awarding nursing scholarships to local nurses and nursing students. Therefore, in addition to the celebration of nursing itself, the Great 100 Nurses of Northeast Florida, Inc., is concerned with raising nurse scholarship money, and this non-profit, tax-exempt corporation accepts donations throughout the year. The Great 100 Nurses of Northeast Florida, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations, gifts, and bequests are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
